If you go to the Cedar tonight…
Ice drums. Ice horns. An iceophone. These are just some of the instruments Norwegian musician Terje Isungset will bring to the Cedar Cultural Center stage tonight. Reporter Nikki Tundel captured the makings of an ice concert.
The ice used to make the instruments comes from Twin Cities lakes. “Artificial ice doesn’t work,” says musician Terje Isungset. “We don’t know why. It just doesn’t resonate like ice from a lake.”

If you are a graphic designer, you need to know about Chank Diesel. He’s a font designer here in Minneapolis.
I have particular disdain for lots of particular fonts for lots of reasons. H*lvetica is the worst. When I see it I close my eyes and turn my head away. But I like Comic Sans, because it helps alert us to who it is that would actually use Comic Sans. Those are the people you got to watch out for. Comic Sans itself is pretty harmless, but the people who use it are downright dangerous.
- Chank Diesel, speaking with METRO’s Emily Cain in anticipation of his appearance at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where he’ll talk about his long love affair with fonts.

From football to Minnesota’s Supreme Court!
The Vikings haven’t been in a Super Bowl since I was born. I’m not gonna lie, it does make me feel like I’m bad luck. But lets move on. I want to take a moment to appreciate Alan Page. He’s someone I’ve always admired and I’ve really found him a source of inspiration. He may be from Ohio originally, but I’m very proud to claim him as a Minnesotan. After all, how often does a person go from being an essential player on one of the best Super Bowl contending football teams of all time to Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court? Additionally he has given back to society by starting the Page Foundation which helps give a leg up to students of color. And finally, he’s a very stylish fellow.
Here’s a cool little video in which he talks about his life.
