The GARBO Coffee Cooperative is located in the Peñas Blancas region of Northern Nicaragua. The co-op hosted students, faculty, and staff from Augsburg College during spring break in March 2012.

Calc and Coffee (by augsburgcollege)
In the course titled “MAT 496: The Calculus of Sustainability,” students spent the first eight weeks of the spring semester studying coffee plantations of Nicaragua. With this knowledge, they created projects ranging from calculating the carbon footprint of coffee production to building a large-scale differential equation model that would be used while in Nicaragua.
